XC Race - 29 mile and 17 mile courses
New race course route for both races, inclusive of many of the new trails on the west side of US41. The climbing will be a gut check, while the sustained descents are guaranteed to make you smile! New race course map will be posted soon so check back.
Second Annual Super D
Back again this year, a fun Saturday event that is quickly becoming a tradition. Tune up your big bikes, because you get two downhill runs, the winner is the one with the best combined time. Don't worry about having to go up in this race, Keweenaw Adventure Company will be providing shuttle service to the top, your entry fee gets you two rides.
Jr. Fat Tire - for kids 13 and under
|For all the up and comers out there, the ever popular kids races are back. Kids can choose from the 40 yard "Short Tire" or the 1 mile and 3 mile XC Races.|
Awards, Party and Music!
Live music starts at 7:00 pm following the awards presentation. This year the boys from Chasin' Steel (bluegrass with a rock and roll attitude) will be playing the outdoor stage in the Grant Twp. Park followed by a late night performance with Mojo Perry Band (psychedelic blues/rock) at Zik's Bar and Grill across the street.

Folks should make lodging reservations sooner rather then later, as the town will be full with the combination of this event and several weddings over the weekend. You can find info about area lodging, activities and attractions at: www.coperharbor.org and www.keweenaw.info
The Copper Harbor Trails Club (CHTC) has reserved the entire Organization Campground at nearby Fort Wilkins State Park from September 1-5 for Fat Tire Festival participants, families and friends. Space is available on a first come, first served basis for up to 80 people per night and is limited to tents sites only, Campers and RV's must register and pay at the State Park for standard public campsites. $2.50 per person, per night includes access to restrooms and showers. A Recreational Passport or Motor vehicle Permit is required for entry thru the State Park for an additional fee, although no limit on the number of people per vehicle. Additional Weekend Activities
Thursday, September 1 - 6:00 pm Group Ride, no cost. Plan to ride one lap (17 miles) of the "short" race course at a group ride pace. Food and drink to follow at a local establishment.
Friday, September 2 - Downhill Shuttle Runs provided by Keweenaw Adventure Company and their 14 passenger van from 12-6 pm. Preview the downhill sections plus other sweet trails without having to exert to much energy (save the legs for Sunday). $6/run or $18 day pass.
Saturday, September 3 - Shuttle van will be running following the Super D race from 3-7 pm. The Fat Tire Reception will be at the Keweenaw Mountain Lodge, live acoustic music, cash bar and plenty of socializing.
