The Copper Harbor Trails Club is excited to announce that we have partnered with industry heavyweight SRAM to help accelerate trail development in Copper Harbor! This $500,000/year commitment over five years (that's $2.5 MILLION) will see SRAM support a wide variety of new trails in our system, from rowdy downhill runs to cross-country singletrack into the wildest corners of Michigan. We are excited for what the future holds and hope you will join us in making the dream a reality!

The Background

SRAM LogoSRAM's $2.5 million pledge to support our trails didn't come out of thin air. Aaron Rogers from Rock Solid, CHTC President Adam Yeoman, and others worked together in 2022 to hammer out a deal that would change the trajectory of our trail system forever. SRAM tested the waters with a "small" $80k+ contribution before going big in 2023 with their $500,000/year pledge.

How'd we do towards meeting their pledge?  We started out with a bang and raised nearly $118,000 during our 2022 Giving Tuesday challenge, all of which was matched by the Portage Health Foundation (now Copper Shores Community Health Foundation) and then again by SRAM. That was a huge boost and enabled us to build TEN MILES of new trail in 2023, including Loam Rider, Dueling Banjos, Thunderbolt, the Keweenaw Point Trail from Phase 1 to East Bluff, and more.  It was our biggest year ever and we look forward to building another ten miles in 2024!

We Need Your help

A group of mountain bikers climbs a gentle forested trailCan we raise another $500k before our 2024 season? We have a lot in store and need your help to make it happen. In 2022 over 400 donors gave during our Giving Tuesday push, nearly quadrupling the amount raised from the previous year! With how many people love the Copper Harbor Trails and come up to ride each year, it's not out of the question to hit 500 donors this year. Heck, why not 1,000? If you've enjoyed coming up for a ride over the last several years, consider donating to make our trails that much better!

All donations raised during our Giving Tuesday match challenge will be matched by Copper Shores and again by SRAM, potentially turning your $100 gift into $400 worth of trail!

HOW TO GIVE

With the Giving Tuesday match challenge taking place from November 7-28, all donations made during this time through the Copper Shores Community Health Foundation will be matched TWICE! Until then, here's how you can have your donation matched:

  1. Visit Copper Shores' Giving Tuesday page
  2. Hit the Donate Now button and choose how much you'd like to give
  3. Complete your payment and you're all set!  We'll receive your info after Giving Tuesday wraps up.

What's In Store

2023 was our biggest build year ever, with ten miles of brand new trail added to our growing system. Believe it or not, we have another 10 miles in the hopper for 2024! This includes a climbing trail on Brockway Mountain, extending the Keweenaw Point Trail to Fish Cove, building a shoreline trail from High Rock to Keystone Bay, a new hub at East Bluff, and more. We're finalizing our plans with Rock Solid over the winter but rest assured, we plan to go big once again in 2024 if we raise enough money this Giving Tuesday. Let's do this!
