Group Rides
We're bringing back guided group rides! Join us most Thursday evenings at 6:15 PM for an exciting and informative group ride around the Copper Harbor Trails. Guide leader and CHTC Outreach Coordinator Nick Ryan will cook up a new journey every week, so be sure to check back here for more information to see where the group will head next. Rides will generally be in the intermediate to advanced difficulty range and are no drop. All group rides are free! Donations are appreciated to support the trails.
Group Ride #13 is Thursday, 9/12. We’ll be meeting back at the Welcome Center for another ride on the core trails. This week, we will start by climbing up the road and hopping onto Ma Maki for our first climb of the day. From there, we will continue up Say Hello before jumping on to Simeh, which we will take to Chipmunk Run. We’ll take Chipmunk Run until we hit Moose On the Loose, where we’ll get our first taste of descending. Then we’ll hop back onto Chipmunk Run and take that back to Cabin Life. After a short descent down Cabin Life, we will cross the highway and, after a brief section on Garden Brook, descend down Bullwinkle. From there, we’ll head up Whoopidie Woo West and continue on Raptor Ridge. Then, continue our descent down The Flow until we come to the Overflow crossing. The group will have the option to descend The Flow or cut onto Overflow and take that to the bottom. Upon both groups reaching the base, we will take the Hunters Point Path back to the Welcome Center. The route will be 10.5 miles and should take an hour and forty-five minutes to complete.
Group Ride #14 is Thursday, 9/19. We are back with another Potluck Ride! We will be meeting back at the roundabout at the end of US-41 for another run on Highlands! This time, we will start by pedaling up Mandan Road before dropping in on Point Trail, which we'll take until we reach the East Bluff. From there, we will hop onto Early Riser and take it to our next brief section of Mandan Road. We'll take the road until we hit the entrance for Highlands, then hop on to ride our featured trail of the night until we hit Camp Manitou Road. We'll take the two track until we hit Point Trail, which we'll rip back to the roundabout. After the ride, join us at the home of Rock Solid's Owner, Aaron Rodgers, for a post-ride celebration featuring food, lake dips, and a nice hot sauna! Visit the link in the bio of either Facebook or Instagram to register to bring a dish. This route is about 12 miles and should take an hour and forty-five minutes to complete!
Group Ride #15 is Thursday, 9/26. We’ll meet at the East Bluff for another ride built on some fantastic descents. This week, we’ll start our warm-up by climbing Summer School and descending back down Summer School. From there, we will climb the East Bluff Driveway for a run down Whipsaw. At the turnaround, we’ll head back up the East Bluff Driveway for a run-down Thunderbolt. Finally, we’ll end the ride with another run up the East Bluff Driveway followed by a descent down something new… Details for the final trail will be coming soon! This ride will be about 9.5 miles and will take around an hour and forty minutes.
Additional details about future group rides will be shared here. It's a new thing for us after many years away and we look forward to building this up more as the summer moves along.
