Enduro is a relatively new format which takes some inspiration from both
car rally and motorbike enduro racing. It is a stage-race format where the
winner is the rider who accumulates the lowest combined time from the
various timed sections. The Copper Harbor Enduro will consist of two or
three timed "special" stages which take place on technically demanding,
generally descending terrain. These special stages are linked by
predominantly ascending "transit" stages. Although a rider's specific
performance on the physically demanding transit stages does not affect his
or her result, the transits are associated with an overall time cut-off.
Registration Onsite Only
Onsite registration: 11am - Noon, Saturday September 1 in the Copper Harbor Community Building. Cost is $35 (includes: race, commemorative pint glass, and Sunday BBQ)
Racers will receive a map and info sheet at registration.
Race start 1:00pm near the Copper Harbor community building.
Two race categories:
1. Short (intermediate) - Riders must complete two timed downhill sections
(in any order) - The Flow and The Red Trail
2. Long (expert) - Riders must complete three timed downhill sections (in
any order) - The Flow, The Red Trail, and Downtown
Racers may choose their own route to get up the hill (transit stages) to
the top of the timed downhill stages (can not ride up timed stage sections or up US Hwy 41)
Racers must use the same bike for the whole event.
Racers must ride their bikes for the whole event (no vehicle shuttles).
Racers will be released onto timed downhill stages at no less than 1 minute
Slower racers must get out of the way for faster racers to pass on timed
No aid will be provided on course. Riders must carry their own water and
Time cut-off: No one may start a timed downhill stage after 3:50pm
(Approximately 3 hours for the whole event).
