SRAM Match
The Copper Harbor Trails Club is approaching Year 3 of our $500,000/year commitment from SRAM (that's $2.5 MILLION over the full five years!) and we have some big projects in store! Your past donations were matched by SRAM which enabled us to knock out some top-tier trailwork. 2024 brought some major upgrades to our system, including the addition of Bermasaurus, a fully-fledged skills zone, much-needed safety updates to On the Edge and the Overflow gap jump, and more. What will 2025 bring?
Two words: WINTER TRAILS!
End of the Road Winter Trails
Since 2018, a group of locals has experimented with grooming existing logging roads beyond the end of US-41. While Copper Harbor is known for its world-class terrain and consistent snow, the area has long lacked easily accessible winter silent sports infrastructure. That’s changing. The scenic areas along Mandan Road and East Bluff offer breathtaking winter views, and decades of logging and exploration have created a network of roads that are ideal for grooming. We’ll utilize these corridors to create a 30-kilometer Nordic trail system, open to skiers, fat-bikers, and snowshoers, inviting everyone to experience the beauty of Copper Harbor in winter.
We need your help to acquire the right winter grooming equipment. We need to secure tracks for our side-by-side and a new drag to keep the trails in top shape. These tools are essential to provide the best possible winter experience and ensure the trails remain enjoyable for everyone. This will be a major upgrade from the aging snowmobile that's been used by volunteers in the past with mixed results. Let's just say the drifts on Mandan Road can get DEEP!
More summer Trails Too!
While we’re fired up about winter, we’re not slowing down on building and maintaining the summer trails you love. In 2025, we’re continuing our mission to expand and maintain Copper Harbor’s renowned trail network, with new trails on the horizon and a commitment to keeping your favorite singletrack in top shape. We've got quite a few miles of XC trail to build out near the tip of the Keweenaw Peninsula, as well as projects closer to town to help with connectivity for all levels of trail user.
We Need Your help
Great trails aren't free no matter the season. Equipping our side-by-side for winter use will cost tens of thousands of dollars for professional, robust gear that won't break down. Fuel and ongoing maintenance costs also will add up. Can we count on your donation or membership to make this dream happen?
All donations made between November 12th and Giving Tuesday (December 3rd) will be amplified by the Copper Shores Community Health Foundation for an extra boost before being matched 1:1 by SRAM! That means your annual gift will go even further towards boosting our trails for the coming year. Whether you plan to visit our trails year-round or only during the summer months, know that your support is the key to our success.
